Intera at European Venture Summit

At the European Venture Summit (EVS), a summit attended by the most promising European companies, which was held in Düsseldorf, Germany on December 1st and 2nd, Intera from Ptuj represented Slovenia. The consequences of the world economic crisis and the best possible responses to it were also discussed at the event. EVS, organised by Europe Unlimited, an organisation from Brussels, is one of the biggest European business events, where the most ambitious high-tech companies from all over Europe introduce themselves to the potential partners and investors. Only the most successful companies can take part in the event. These are the companies which succeed in slipping through the numerous sieves of the selection process, which lasts for a year. This year 30 events were attended by more than 800 companies from 21 European countries. Among the applicants at more than 30 events a team of topmost experts from the realms of investment, science and management chooses those which have the greatest potential of international growth. This year they have chosen 100 most promising European companies from the realms of Biotech, Industrial Biotech, New Energies and ICT. The chosen companies had the possibility to present their projects in front of investors and they had a firsthand contact with the depositors and other strategic partners. The presentations were given a form of an 8-minute presentation in front of investors and the expert committee composed of four members, which was followed by a 7-minute interview. In addition to the networking and individual meetings, the entrepreneurs also addressed other investors by giving elevator pitches. A lot has been written about Intera on international blogs of PR agencies as well. The only representative of Slovenia at the summit was Intera from Ptuj, a company, which deals with developing innovative online business applications. To put it in general terms, this is a program equipment which works online and helps companies work in a clearer and more efficient manner. At the moment, the most successful Intera’s products in the market are Intrix CRM, an application for customer relationship management, and Intrix Project, an application for project management. Intera develops all solutions on the basis of its own innovative internet platform Intrix, which was also the reason why Intera was accepted to EVS and which awarded the company with several prizes in the past; among others the company received a golden award of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Štajerska and a bronze award of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia. At the Slovene Innovation Forum, Intera was chosen as one of the three best Slovene innovators in the category of small and mid-sized companies; the company also prides itself on the fact that it is one of the first Slovene companies to have received the Family-friendly company certificate. The company has been in operation for six years, they currently have 11 employees and recently they have opened a new business unit on the premises of the Technology Park in Ljubljana – Brdo. Intera’s CEO, Davorin Gabrovec, said that the acceptation to EVS is important especially as a confirmation that the company belongs to the top of the most promising European companies and is also a great opportunity for receiving feedback about the strategic orientations of the company. “Intera has reached a point where expansion of the company is the only logical way. We have a globally interesting product, we have polished our business model, we have an experienced team of workers, however for such big steps we need the help of a strategic partner.” The second important part of the summit of international experts, entrepreneurs and investors was conference-oriented; one of the heated issues was obviously the recent development of events concerning the world economy and their significance for the European companies and the fluctuation of the perilous capital. Gabrovec’s opinion is that the new situation demands more caution, however one needs to stay bold enough and realistically optimistic. William Stevens, CEO of Europe Unlimited, agrees: “EVS is attended only by the most talented entrepreneurs from all over Europe, who have been chosen by the best European business and financial experts. We are confident that they will overcome the current situation and continue to grow and flourish.”

Chinasoft '08

Representatives of Intera attended the greatest Asian event (Chinasoft '08) in the field of IT with the emphasis on software, which took place in the central part of China, Chengdu. The topics of the event were focused on the application development, outsourcing and future of the software solutions. They organized also meetings of the companies from EU and PRC, and individual meetings with the investors who are investing in fast-growing IT companies. Intera performed 12 such meetings, on which we were looking, first of all, for the partner for marketing, development and support of our software solution Intrix on the Asian market. Mozilla and Google After Chinasoft '08 we met our potential investor from Japan. Besides, our business partner invited us to the guided visit to the working environment of the subsidiaries of the companies Google, Mozilla and IBM in Tokio.

The Intrix Project Among the Best Innovations

The Intrix Project has been classified among the 40 best innovations, inventions, technological and other solutions in 2007, which were presented on the 2nd Slovene Innovation Forum on 17th and 18th January 2008 in Cankarjev dom. There were 175 registered innovations, assessed by the expert committee, consisting of forty-two Slovene reputable experts in technics, business science and patents, and representatives of Slovene innovators and three foreign consultants. The Commission assessed technical, innovation, entrepreneurial and business aspects according to the innovation, useful value, practical feasibility, market appeal, social and economic effects and suitability of approach. This event is organized on behalf of the Public Agency for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments (JAPTI) and Ministry of the Economy of the Republic of Slovenia and held by the Hevreka! Intera on a Visit to China

In Chengdu, China the business meeting EU Chengdu SMEs Busines Matchmaking & Cooperation Incubation Event took place on the 8th and 9th November. Nine companies from Slovenia attended it including our company INTERA, Ltd. National coordinator of the Slovene delegation visit was Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia. The meeting was intended for small and medium-sized companies working in the field of information technology, machine manufacture and protection of the environment. At the business event individual business meetings among more than 100 companies from EU (Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain and Great Britain) and more than 300 companies from China were organised. Besides business meetings within the event in Chengdu Slovene economic delegation met also the representatives of Slovene Club and members of government and economic delegation under the direction of the Slovene Prime Minister Janez Janša. Intera extended its business trip in China because we visited Hi-tec Con and software parks in Chengdu and Xi'an where we also developed contacts with some companies and looked for possibilities to enter the market in China.

Visit of the State Secretary

Within the government’s visit to Spodnje Podravje the state secretary of Ministry of Finance Andrej Šircelj, MSc at first visited Intera Ltd. which is one of the most innovative companies in the region. Before meeting the majors, economists, members of parliament and state advisers of Podravje the state secretary with cooperation of Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology attended the consultation session about the tax relief and investing in research and development. The state secretary Andrej Šircelj, MSc met the management of Intera which presented him business operations of the company. Intera is one of the most innovative and development-oriented companies in this region. Intera is high-technology ICT company specialized for development of business web applications and technologies. By using the newest web standards, Open Source technologies and our own research tools we provide our clients with the whole range of web solutions. One of the greatest problems of the company is the lack of appropriate qualified staff. State secretary expressed his satisfaction over the fact that the company operates successfully in the region which faced many problems in the past. He presented also the possibilities and priorities of facilities for investments in research and development which would enable the company to operate more successfully. In addition, the financial savings of the company could be spent on scholarships and educating of employees.

IMProve Project

This year Intera has incorporated in the IMProve Project, which stimulates MSP’s at their developing and improving of capacities and managing of innovation. Analyses of our business in comparison to the competitors, and the workshop have given us the results, which show that we are open to the new ideas and that the influence of the innovation on our business is great. It showed also that we have competences and good thinking, which is outside of the standard frames of operating. With the above mentioned we got additional confirmation that the good managing of innovative processes in all dimensions and innovation are the important part of our business strategy, which contributes to the attaining of goals of success of Intera.

Intera Awarded with the Golden Award

The conferring of the awards for the best innovation created in 2006 in the region of Podravje was held in September in the premises of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Štajerska. Among the registered Intera won the golden award for its innovation Intrix Project, which is an innovative web tool for managing projects and project teams. On the basis of the best innovation in the region we were placed also on the national selection and there we won bronze award among the 170 registered innovations. The award is one more proof that Intera is very perspective and innovative company, which systematically approaches to the investments in the research and development.
